A bit further away
Sri Lanka has so many unique experiences to offer its visitors, each place with its own story to tell. We have gathered some of our favourite places it the country here but it is definitely not a complete list, just some of our highlights that we would like to share with you.
SAFARI IN UDAWALAWE
There are a few places to go on a safari in Sri Lanka but we recommend Udawalawe. In our opinion this is a much more animal friendly alternative comparing to the famous Yala.
When in Udawalawe do not miss the Elephant Transit Home, a rehabilitation center for orphanage calves. Thay take care of the calves until they are strong enough to be let back into the wild again.
ELLA
The mountains in Sri Lanka are just stunning with the endless tea plantations and waterfalls. In Ella you have so much to do; trekk up to Little Adams Peak, do not miss the Flying Ravana Zipline on your walk up there, visit nine arch bridge, tea plantations and of course some waterfalls.
TRAIN RIDE
The train between Ella and Nuwara Eliya is said to be one of the most beautiful ones in the world. And it truly is stunning when you pass by the tea plantations, small villages andthe views over the misty mountains.
COLOMBO
The capital of Sri Lanka is absolutely worth to spend a day in. If you would like to do some shopping you can find almost everything the vibrant Pettah market. Or if you prefer the top modern One Galle Face with all the brand stores. Maybe catch a movie while you are there?
SIGIRIYA
Sigiriya or Lion Rock is a massive column of rock that juts out from the green tropical forest. It reaches 660 feet tall and features frescoes, graffiti, and landscaped gardens. Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress and palace built by King KashyapaIt over 1,500 years ago.

To see the sunrise in a hot air balloon, flying over the beautiful forests of Sri Lanka, is really a once in a lifetime experience. No need to say anything else!
